TO VENTURE, TO GAIN

Advantages and Services

The phrase "Project Management" began to emerge in the late 1950s and early 1960s when the size, scope, duration, and resources required for new projects began to deserve more analysis and attention. Today, project management is used globally by multi-billion-pound corporations, governments, and smaller organizations alike as a means of meeting their customers' or constituents' needs by both standardizing and reducing the basic tasks necessary to complete a project in the most effective and efficient manner. As a result, Project Management leadership is a highly desirable and sought-after skill as intense global competition demands that new projects and business development be completed on time and within budget.

Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to a broad range of activities in order to meet the requirements of a particular project. Project Management is comprised of five processes:
· Initiating
· Planning
· Executing
· Controlling and
· Closing
...as well as nine knowledge areas. These nine areas centre on management expertise in:
· Project Integration
· Project Scope
· Project Time
· Project Cost
· Project Quality
· Project Human Resources
· Project Communications
· Project Risk Management and
· Project Procurement.

Using these basic principles of Project Management, the main objective of this Division is:

To deliver Projects to the Client Base on time and within budget.

A major factor at the heart of the success of this Division, its results are measured using this Key Performance Indicator. Says Stewart L. Halliday, Director of Adventus, "Consultancies and Contractors so often these days have got a bad name because they have not been able to deliver on time and within budget both in the public and private sectors. We have recognised this to be a very important factor when choosing a partner to undertake and run these projects, however, large or small, and provides us with a unique critical success factor."

This success is attributable to:
· Using the right "tools" for the job. Not all Projects require the "heavy-handed" formal Project Management Tool such as Prince 2 which could, in fact, ADD cost to the Project. Some Projects are best managed using such tools as MS Project (most projects can be managed using this tool) or even the MS Office Suite such as MicroSoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
· Effective Communication to all involved with and affected by the Project albeit they being on the periphery.
· Regular Progress Meetings identifying Issues and planning a process to resolve them as soon as possible.
· Working on the "KISS" principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid).
· Identifying and documenting additional work requested and not automatically including this work in Project Scope without due consideration to time and budget.

Our Project Management team all ascribe to the above.

Projects undertaken, both technical and business, include:-
